Why did these young American adults choose to stay close to lethal dange in an unsecured area? Because that is what they have been trained to do. This action has the potential to increase the casualty numbers instead of mitigating them. There cannot be only one strategy available when responding to extreme violence.

ALICE Instructor Course: The purpose of this 3-day program is to certify local representatives as instructors of a researched-based, proactive approach in responding to Active Shooter/school violence. Our goal is to have staff, employees, and students taught creative, effective, and easy strategies that enhance their ability to escape the Active Shooter event if possible, and if escape is not possible, how to make themselves hard targets.

The A.L.I.C.E. (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) program is designed to enhance current “Lockdown” procedures used frequently in our educational institutions. Tragic events in our schools have dictated the need of enhanced training be provided to staff and students to increase their chances of surviving a surprise attack by an Active Shooter.
